Piet Mondrian

A film from the “Impressions” series, made using a combination of techniques. It presents the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian through documentary photographs from the era in which he lived and worked. The director shows the evolution of the visual arts at the beginning of the 20th century from Fauvism to geometric abstraction using Mondrian’s paintings as an example. The artist’s philosophical journey into abstraction, which for Mondrian was a confirmation of the superiority of the mind over the senses. The artist’s works are woven into the turbulent history of the early 20th century, full of historical events and civilizational changes.
